The Culture Trap

You should know that our culture, American culture, does not want you more feminine. The truth is that our culture thrives on you being more masculine than feminine.

Our culture thrives on women who work too many hours, don’t have time to cook, and can’t spend quality time with their family. It thrives on (and makes lots of dollars from) angry women, depressed women, sick women, single women.

And it thrives on your inability to realize that you have limits, you are fragile, you need love, you need help.

Isn’t it time our families thrived?

If you have been feeling like you are living and loving at a deficit, then it’s time to start GIRL-ing down. It is time to put you and your family’s well-being FIRST. Here are a few ways to do that:

  1. Be open to receiving help
  2. Be open to asking for help
  3. Refuse to hide your tears
  4. Ensure moments with your family are quality. Be fully present
  5. Refuse to bring work home (if you work from home, create a specific work place and keep specified hours. Don’t let the boundaries of work and home blur.)
  6. If married, let your husband lead. There are soooooo many resources available on this topic, please read them!
  7. If single, be open to relying on others to help you. If your ability to trust has been ruined because of childhood trauma or past relationships, this will be a significant step for you. Heal your heart and build your trust muscles while single. This is good use of your time
  8. Cook for your family. Cook for your friends. Cooking is a wonderful activity and while it is not feminine in and of itself, it is a great activity to help women reclaim their femininity.
  9. Smile. It’s easy, it’s free and it feels so good to do. Even if you are not feeling particularly happy, just smile. A giggle will soon follow. My sister and I were talking about this the other day. She is currently reading a book called, What Happy People Know, and it has enlightened her so much. And while we are on the subject…
  10. Read. There are plethora of books on the subject of womanhood, cooking, femininity, happiness and the like. I wrote the eBook, My Little Black eBook: 200+ Ways to Be Feminine, to help women understand how to retain their femininity and develop their feminine grace.

I hope you will consider these things as you carry our your day.

xoxo
